Sheepdog Theatre was founded by Australian director Michael Walker with the purpose of bringing an off-Broadway style of English-speaking theatre to audiences in Tokyo. The company’s inaugural production was Ingmar Bergman’s Through A Glass Darkly performed at Theater Shine in Asagaya in late 2019. Plans for a second show were abruptly halted with the onset of COVID19 and subsequently resulted in a three year interval between productions. In July 2023, the group was delighted to present their follow-up production, Samuel D. Hunter’s beautiful and poignant, The Whale

In 2024, the group will be presenting William Shakespeare’s masterpiece Hamlet at Theater BONBON in Nakano.

Productions for later in the year will be announced over the coming months.
